I just wanted to add a little something here that i've experienced by way of spasms as it might help someone else who gets strange pains. For many years i've suffered with IBS and throughout this time i get periodic intensely painful episodes that start in my low back and spread round to my tummy. The pain is horrendous and it generally lasts no longer than a few minutes before the intensity lessens and is normally completely gone after about 7 or 8 minutes. This used to really scare me, i've had to pull over whilst driving and things before because the pain was too unbearable, but being fobbed off generally by docs for years i never mentioned it. Until that is my AS was diagnosed and i mentioned it to my rheumy as at that point I assumed it was AS related, seeing as it originated in my already painful lower back. Anyway, to cut a long story short, my rheumy thinks its my colon spasming, which would make sense with the IBS (previously referred to as spastic colon). One of those wierd things spasm related i thought my help to be out there...
