Aragorn,
Desparation--I know that word all too well. Optimism--luckily I know that one too. Best of luck to you in the radon mines of Montana! Please do let us know about your experience there (you're going to be amazed at the results). I'm sending out nothing but positive thoughts to you-this will work-you will feel normal again.
Interestingly enough, I had blood work done this week (nearly 8 mos after Jachymov)...my doctor called me and was in a state of disbelief. Having tracked my disease activity for the past 3 years (active being the main word here)he was in shock to see that my CRP rate was below 10 (used to average anywhere between 48-75 never below)and my white blood count had gone from an "above normal" 12000 to only 5000. As he put it,"There is basically no disease activity. Whatever you're doing, keep doing it." So, it's off to Jachymov again in January!
BTW, I just have to say again that this is one of the few treatments for AS that across the board the research says is effective for long term relief--LONG TERM. For me, the cost of going to the Czech Republic for 21 days was much lower than the US $20,000 that I would have had to shell out for TNF meds. The NSD diet nearly did me in as well...I look at the pictures of myself during that period and it is obvious that I was putting my health at risk.
Well, my cane (yes, I had to use one)has been put away in the storage closet--I'm walking barefoot around the house for the first time in nearly 6 years--even spent 3 weeks in Aug. walking barefoot on a long beach every day...heaven. Got a cold a couple of weeks ago and laughed at all the "God Bless You's" I got (haven't been able to sneeze for years--so I haven't heard that for a long time). Yes, Radon Therapy--HOLY CRAP--IT WORKS!
All the best to you!
Luigi
