My father retires this year after 40+ years as elementary school teacher despite the fact that he almost had AS for almost as long. He worked through crutches at times, had back surgeries before they knew it was AS and has been totally fused in spine/neck for 2-3 decades.
But teaching always gave him purpose and he loved it, so it gave him something to look forward to each day. He even coached basketball teams at the school.
I believe teaching is a discipline greatly undervalued, so I commend you on your choice of profession and hope you enjoy it every bit as much as my father did.
