Oh, I've read and heard that the 'stair stretch' mentioned earlier in this thread is really bad for plantar fasciitis.
Podiatrist told me to use a brick or block of wood (I used an old phone book) and put the toes on that, with heels on the floor. Straighten the leg and stretch the Achilles that way. You have control over the stretch, rather than just bouncing off a step, which could lead to rupture of either your PF or the tendon. Strengthening the Achilles helps relieve PF. If you catch the PF early, this works much better. Regrettably, I didn't catch it early. Good luck.
