Hi Sharn. Devin had been complaining about pain for a few months. When I was talking to my dad about the things my son was doing and complaining about, he said that was what he had gone thru when he was young but no one had done anything about it way back then.
I took Devin to our family doctor and she referred us to orthopedics at the childrens hospital here in seattle. Based on the symptoms and x-ray they decided to do the genetic testing. The HLA-B27 came back positive. So, with the symptoms, b27, and family history they made the determination of AS. We go to the Rhuemy in a couple weeks to work out a full treatment plan. For now he takes Naproxen twice a day and does physical therapy twice a week.
Devin is a big boys as well. At 8 he is 5 ft and 103 lbs.
