You're very sweet, Joanne. And you are right, as far as health goes we do think similarly.
I've already seen some "natural" healers, homeopathic, holistic and naturopaths. They push "natural" remedies that I cannot take anymore than the drugs pushed by allopathic docs. With the drugs, I think in part it's the fillers and so-called inactive ingredients that I react to, as most contain fructose (e.g. sucrose, sucrolase, sorbitol, other artificial sweetners - some of which are used a lubricants, believe it or not - and fructans/herbs, carob, and many other ogliosaccarides) or lactose in one form or another. Well, except for codeine, an active ingredient I cannot take in any form. Ditto Cipro.
I don't think I'd be a candidate for biologicals either, as I'm neutropenic and, as such, am constantly fighting infections and fatigue, which may be due, in part, to ATP depletion. All goes back to my metabolic woes.
We had our initial consult with geneticist #3 last week. She specializes in adult metabolics and internal medicine at a cancer center. She and her team spent 3.5 hours with me and my son and were totally stumped. They want a few more weeks to draw up a definitive plan of action. That'll give them more time to sift through our records with an eye towards delineating cause from effect. We have developed complication upon complication. In the meantime, they are prescribing a chromosome micro array for my son, pending approval from his insurance, and checking my kidney dysfunction. She told me that I may have to go off some of the nutritional supplements prior to further testing, something I dread the thought of. Those supplements are what alleviate my diabetic-like neuropathy and other painful symptoms I experience. She said they would try to work around any further invasive testing on me. Thank goodness! I don't think I'd agree to another liver or muscle biopsy at this time.
Anyway, the geneticist asked for more records, as if the volumes we already provided were not enough. I think that's a good sign.

I don't know for sure that I have Candida. I do get fungal infections in my toenails, almost chronic, that I treat with Oxine AH. Nor do I know for sure what type of bacteria is causing the DHPPA overload. I'm hoping the new rheumy will take an interest and look into that, do cultures. For now, I've decided to try some liquid ionic zinc as I can't take the colloidal silver indefinately. I think my tongue will be a good indication of whether or not the stuff works.
I trust you will eventually get the answers you're looking for, hopefully sooner than later. Hang in there, Joanne!
