Welcome to the site,

I think you have gotten a lot of good sugestions of where to head next for the job depo. I am a police dispatcher for a small PD, not the best job for AS, but it is pretty good. I sit all day, but can stand up and walk around any time I want to. Stress is a bad thing for AS, though, and sometimes my job can be stressfull. Hope to see you and your Hubby here often, theres a great group of people here for support.

Nice to meet you

Daniel

Keep on keepin on Kicking some AS

Take care my friend,

I hope this finds you well,

Daniel

Oh yeah,

Before I worked here I worked at Starbucks coffee. That was a pretty good job because it was physical, but not heavy labor. Also, the schedule wasn't stringent. On the down side, the $ wasn't very good.

Hi Carmen and Welcome to our family!!
Can't add much to what's been said already, but I wanted to welcome you... Maybe your hubby will want to join us too.. You'll find lot's of answers, support and laughs.
The more the merrier!
As far as working, I don't have much to say about that, but I think you've been given a few good suggestions already. My job used to consist of being on my feet alot. As the disease progressed we found that I couldn't stand for too long, so that left out alot of options. I couldn't sit for very long either, which left out a lot of options, and I can't lay for too long, so that leaves out at least one option that I know of.
Not that I would ever consider it anyway.
Only thing left was to go on disability, which I did. I miss working, but I have my family which keeps me occupied enough for now.
Glad you found us and I hope you decide to stick around. Looking forward to getting to know you and your hubby more.
Take care and hugs to you,
Lisa

Hi Carmen
This forum will help you discover a few things about AS. The first is that it affects everyone differently and second that you have to research to figure what treatment or drug or diet will work best for your husband. If you can get a referal to a Rheumatologist, it might provide you with a good way to start getting a handle on things. Never give up, keep an open mind on treatments. Make your doctor or Rheumatologist work until they find something that is effective and when you need to vent this is the perfect place.
