If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Molly, Had a busy couple of days here, so I'm late on responding, but am shocked my the ineptitude you are experiencing. I wouldn't have much confidence in these people myself. Can't believe what they are doing to you and am sorry you can't find decent medical care.

Yes, what a mess indeed Joyce. Sigh. Spent the whole day on it. Houndette hasn't had a walk and now it is pouring out of the heavens - torrential. Added to which, houndette has ripped up a much cherished plant: plant shreds in one direction, earth in another and container trashed! I am NOT amused...
Yes, am a tad worrit re the consultant. I mean, ignores the factors of pain, and then cannot even remember me? OK. So what is memorable about a 140lb geriatric red head (albeit now mainly white) who is - fill in the blanks 'LOL'. (Merde, to coin an apt phrase!)
Can confirm that I had more cognisance taken in the UK of do's and don't's than I do here in France - and this in spite of going to the trouble of providing a translation of ALL pertinent documents...
Just hope I don't throw up - know I get very nauseaus, and all the rest. Sigh. Posting the update, but within this thread. Thanks Joyce - (((HUGS)))

http://www.medkb.com/Uwe/Forum.aspx/cancer/3516/Colonoscopy-PREP-OptionsUpdate: Oral Sodium Phosphate Used as Preparation for Colonoscopy Can Cause Kidney Damage Spent the day on this. Researched and researched. All avenues. Plus, phoned the hospital to get info on 'what' product they used for the actual prep. Passed by the skin of...'smile'. Colopeg. Now the 'peg' products are better, preferable to the Osmoprep and Visicol preps and their types of preps. Being, that ALL preps are 'bad' but some are worse than others. Visicol and Osmo now carry a black box warning. Was advised to speak with the nursing staff to ensure that I was accepting of the product and IF not, there was a wide choice of other preps available to me. A modicum of comfort this. Then had a note from my bro. His daughter is about to take her finals (medical) and his son (first marriage) will be taking his finals (medical) in a few months time. Excellent. That will bring the family 'medical' count up to: 12. One of whom is a cardiac consultant and his wife a consultant anaesthetist. Does a sister count, she's a medical translator, cardiac and thoracic surgery specialising; Greek and French into English (WHO) - 13. Bakers dozen! Then the nursing line up...rather too many medics. And those that aren't tend to be lawyers... (Sometimes methinks, the two 'need' to go together...!!) 'LOL' OK guys. Thanks for clearing my thinking. *WAS on the point of pulling OUT - (Shall I go in with a big stick??????????? ) Molly C (France - 'just') Keeping on Keeping on (by the skin of...)

""You know, am beginning to ask myself, what the hell I'm doing here in France! ""
That's kind of what i was thinking Molly. Get thee back to England ( mind you - I love France too - though didn't need medical care there )

egads Molly! I'd run fast, well, maybe walk quickly seeing as running hurts too much.
What have you decided? I'd be concerned that they'd screw up and give you the wrong meds and do a botch job procedure too! they've forgotten your instructions, Heck, maybe they'll forget to retrieve the scope or whatever else they use on you.. !
I'm with you on the caution of drugs and all and I tend to refuse most routine procedures. Probably not a good thing for me to do, but I get worried about a lot of useless procedures. I really hope this is necessary and important for you to be going thru! See if you can get things in writing about specific meds they can/cannot use on you... k?

Thanks Trudi (BTW, love that new photo of you - you look like Ingrid Bergman gal.) As to 'needing'. Think the answer is 'yes'. Horrible problems with stomach and gut. Can't keep on in this manner. Am sometimes house bound for a couple of days together, and recently had a horrible 'do' with crawling stomach pains. The gastro did 'find' a painful area, right side (r.sides are diff to get a handle on apparently) so he is prepared for visual problems. Mebbe they won't find anything but on the other hand...? Last two colonoscopies they found tubillous polyps. Have had three removed in total. The first two were quite large. Gastro opined 'pre cancer'! So, I had better go get checked and see what is what. (Paternal grandfather died of bowel cancer). On top of that this blasted LPRG/GERD is wretched. Just comes up and hits me. I would MUCH rather ignore the whole darn shooting affair, but then! We'll see what happens - but sure am dreading it. Yes, will have summat in writing from em - don't forget to bring in E/F dictionary! ) Molly C

Yes, and I have the name of just the person to go and see, unfortunately, they are NHS, no pvt practice, so am up a gum tree...sigh! (Unable to take advantage of NHS as am 'now' out of the NHS system ). Just gonna 'have' to trust this guy, though my confidence is shaken - if not indeed stirred as well Thanks Sparkgirl - Molly C

RUN FAST. I am not good at Geography. But is there a near by country, village, city, town you could go. I mean really. I have talked to you about GI problems. I have had more than my share of scopes. If my doc did this I would run screaming. No way. Yes you definitely need a scope, but I would not see this doc or go to this hospital. Why do you need general anethesia anyway. They give me an amensiac med and I wake up groggy twenty minutes later dressed and go home. The prep is horrid but four days out. Mine is two days out. What exactly are they doing. They go from one end to the other on me and do biopsies all the way through. One time a couple of years ago I had 29 polpys and they got them all. I still went home within a hour and a half. What are they palnning to do to you? I would find out.

Hi Patty - appreciate yr input. Why a GA? My first scope was with Medazeolam (sp) and Pethidine, didn't work He hit a tight loop (upper ilium), continued 'in' and I was screaming. Total agony - and no, they couldn't up the meds as I was at the top level! For the second scope, I refused to go that route again, so had a GA, Here in France they use a GA as a matter of course - as indeed do many of the gastros in the UK (upto the gastro's preferences.)
Yes, mine will be going from one end to the other - I had stomach problems way back then as well as, but the gastro then didn't do an endoscopy. Am really in a bind at the moment. Gut playing up, and stomach. Sigh. (Gets taking houndette for walkies diff as I dunnot 'when' I'll need to 'run'...or be caught out! )
Well, at least being in a hospital setting there'll be a full back up team available. He'll have no excuse to make a botched job - watch this space, am on count down now: first day of the four. Crossed fingers.
As for being 'admitted' for two nights. Am in my 70s and hospital are being cautious, as 'could' react badly to the prep (like pass out?) and also live alone, so IF in a problem, no one would know - houndette don't know about using the telephone 'smile') So, it is only a precaution...ensuring I survive the prep OK and come out the other side of the GA OK (no side effects, untoward reactions).
Thank you for yr concern hon. Sure appreciate having my hand held (Yes. Am nervous )
