Hey Keven and everyone interested,

I have had some success in reducing the mouth sores/pain overnight by doing the following:

I stopped using regular toothpaste (containing SLS-sodium laural sulfate ?sp? sup. this foamer can cause irritation if one is sensitative to it) and made a toothpaste of just hydrogen peroxide and baking soda with a small dash a salt.
2 tablespoons hydrogen peroxide, 2 tablespoons water, 1/4 teaspoon salt.

2. I have been taking benadryl. 50 mgs, every 6 hours.

3. I have been rinsing my mouth with a 50/50 mix of salt water hydrogen peroxide followed by a rinse of malox.

I do the rinses after I brush my teeth, and after meals.

I have been drinking extra water.

what of that is helping, dunno, could be all of it together. I'm just glad it is.

Hope you able to get relief or that any of this is able to help.

Hugs and totally laying off the chocolate,

Chele

oops sorry Kevin, that is how I make the gargle.

For the toothpaste, I just put a pea sized about of baking soda in a saucer, and add a drop of hydrogen peroxide to make a thick paste. The taste is not great, LOL but if you make a larger batch, you can add a bit of vanilla or mint for flavor.

Hugs:)

I have had the same problem all my life. Toothpaste could be a problem, however; mine is also a reaction to the medications. The only thing that relieves the pain and heals is OSHA root. I gargle three times a day(after each meal and after brushing my teeth).

Hope you feel better soon. Regards, Art

It's hard to find a toothpaste without the SLS...if you don't like the hydrogen peroxide/baking soda, one brand you could try is Sensodyne Pronamel. Rembrandt used to make one, but I can't find it any longer.

kevin,
I call it hot tongue.
ice cream, carbonated beverages, some peppers set mine off.
A member of my church had it so I kind of had some experience with it. Of course you should go to a Dr. But my experience is, it keeps me from eating ice cream....

oh hey Keven and anyone interested,

Found a toothpaste today at my local grocery store for around $7.00 for 4.5 oz. It is called biotene. Its made specifically for dry mouth. It contains no SLS, and has antibacterial enzimes and biologicals that are supposed to restore your mouth's natural defenses.

here is the link to their site:

if you would like to check it out.

Hugs,
