I am sorry that you are having a difficult time. If it is any consolation, since the Simponi did not cause the problem, having it in your system should not really be an issue. Diabetes and kidney problems are not usually side effects of either Enbrel or Simponi.

Did your doctor say that he suspected "Diabetes Mellitus" or "Diabetes Insipidus"? Diabetes Mellitus is the blood sugar disorder that we commonly hear about. Patients with Diabetes Mellitus often have increased thirst and water consumption - but not usually dehydration. Diabetes Insipidus is a much rarer problem regulating water or fluid. You are actually describing some classic symptoms of DI - headache, dizziness, muscle cramps, dehydration while drinking large amounts of fluid, and excessive urination. DI can be caused by a kidney problem (nephrogenic DI) http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000511.htm or a hormone problem (central DI) http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000460.htm . As far as I am aware, neither form is related to AS, autoimmunity, or the medications you mentioned. Both are manageable conditions with medication and adequate fluid intake. A different disorder called Polydipsia can also be caused by simple overconsumption of water due to a variety of factors.

Good luck with the blood work. I hope your doctors figure out what is causing your symptoms soon.

Thank you Cindy and Lisa,
I'm going to try and get in today for my results, I think its better to know one way or the other and find out whats causing what...I felt so bad last night, I'm thinking it could be the Simponi... really dizzy, sick to my stomache and a headache, more like a migraine and apparently that can be a side effect of simponi...I'm hoping it will subside soon if thats what it is...

I will post once I know whats going on

Thank you Stormy for the information, I was just saying that I've had so much dizziness, headaches, feeling extremely cold, tired, nausea etc and drinking water like crazy and peeing like crazy, maybe there is something else and it doesn't have anything to do with the tnf's.

My doctor just said diabetes, I normally have very low blood pressure 115/67 and partly because I was at the doctors it was up but not over 140/ around 80, which is still not considered high but maybe high for me. I took it at after I seen him and it was 125/65 pulse was 63

I will post again once I know.

Just an update my kidneys are functioning normal again and the doctor said no more celebrex he figured it could have contributed to the kidney dehydration.

So now I'm assuming the simponi caused the nausea, headache and dizziness, it went away after five days...hope it gets better each time...should I report those side effects?

That's great to hear, Daisy!! yes I would report the side-effects, I'm on Enbrel and there's a 24-hour hotline and if you have any questions, you can call and the phones are answered by nurses, I've had to call it a couple of times, they answered all of my questions and they were very nice... smile

Hi Daisy

Sorry you are having a lot of unwelcome symptoms. Glad your kidneys are functioning properly. I would still report other symptoms to my doctor just to be on the safe side. I would let my doctor make the determination as to whether these side effects are something to worry about.

Hope you get things sorted out and you start feeling better soon!!

Hello Daisy,

Hope they can find the issues related to kidneys. I bounced around with liver issues for a 1/2 year, not fun.

Best to you.

Tim

I emailed my rhuemy this morning and let him know whats going on, so I hope to hear back from him today and he will let me know what he thinks.

I'm sorry to hear about the liver issues I hope things have settled down for you. I know it scares me to think my kidneys are not working, hopefully they will get to the bottom of it, and it was the celebrex??

Thanks again

Hello Daisy,

My liver issues were way back in 2002... history for now thankfully.

Was result of my meds, but they did not think so at first.
