If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

so, in february i've tested positive to Helicobacter pylori. a quick ecography showed some small gastritis. My GI - same one wich i see for my UC - said that she would not push antibiotics on me, since they are not recomended for UC'ers. She told me to wait for better days to use them and she gave me a recipe (amoxycillin and clarytomicin combined with nexium and some probiotics). At the beginning of august i've had some throat pain and tested positive for staphylococcus aureus. Since the antibiogramme showed that is sensitive to clarytomicin i've said it's time for me to chase both rabbits and kill them both. My AS and UC were both in remission since february/march so i've started a 7 days treatment with antibiotics. during those 7 days i've ate only safe NSD foods for me (no fruits to avoid candida, no wine and so on). Diarrhoea installed from the first day. after the fourth day stools become more consistent, but still not normal. No As pains during the treatment. Now, i've finished the antibiotics, and hell got loose: UC pain, small cloths of blood in stools, increase bowel movement, huge bowel pain and off course on top of this: lumbar pain, thoracic stiffness and pain all over may ribs. Not to mention urinary infection. So, my 2 cents - antibiotics are not for everyone I'm sure i'll get over this in a couple of weeks, but i've learned my lesson - no more antibiotics, unless i am under a death sentence.

Remission now... Modified NSD/SCD. sorry the antibiotics did this to you i needed them earlier this summer when i had a tooth extracted / bone graft done. and the amoxicillin did a number on my bowels. the only thing that helped make it not an impossible situation was tons of yogurt and taking my probiotics. but i agree, antibiotics not for everyone. i won't take them unless i have to. and thankfully that's not very often. even worse than what you describe, if C. diff gets out of control from antibiotic use. one reason for why the probiotics are so essential. interestingly, the video that jroc linked talked about making sure to take probiotics while on antibiotics. but even that not always good enough. at least i didn't end up in as bad of a flare as you did. once i stopped the antibiotics, things returned to normal in a few days. but i don't have UC, probably the biggest difference. yet, others here talk about using antibiotics to heal the gut; interesting topic.

Spondyloarthropathy, HLAB27 negative Humira (still methylprednisone for flares, just not as often. Aleve if needed, rarely.) LDN/zanaflex/flector patches over SI/ice vits C, D. probiotics. hyaluronic acid. CoQ, Mg, Ca, K. chiro walk, bike no dairy (casein sensitivity), limited eggs, limited yeast (bread)

That's a real bummer Alinus. Clarythromycin is one of the very few antibiotics that I can take - most do horrors to my gut, like erithromycin (which just about kills me!) The probiotics should be kicking in. Hope you're over this soon.

Sorry to hear about this setback Alinus. And you had been doing so well it sounded like too, up until this point. Frustrating!
Hope some GI balance settles in soon...

thank you all for you good thoughts. at this moment my bowel movements decreased a little bit (i hope it's not temporary), but i cannot move anything up my pelvis without pain. strange, aside my sternum witch is very painful at ribs insertions, the other problems seem more like muscular problems than bone inflammation. something like muscular spasms/cramps. No rotation of my spine is allowed without spasms/pain. A lot of fatigue also. anyway, patience is a virtue so the only thing to do is to keep the faith and wait for better times.

back from a 2 weeks nice vacation in Spain. since my last post i've been in and out of flares (mostly AS). In the last august week i was almost unable to walk nor sleep(my left SI joint and some killing pain in T1/T2 did not agree with me). Then things settled for one week, then i was back again in the wounded cart. True, i've made some excesses during my vacation: too much alcohol (at least a bottle of dry red wine a day, but the red spanish wined are so sooooo good ), tried some smoked spanish jamboon with E200 and E250 preservatives that did not go well. Also i've found coffee and lager beer to be offending on this period. Arrived at home, now i'll be back to my old routine, i guess i will be able to return to normal in about 1-2 months.

Sorry you're suffering like that. Especially after you know how good you can feel. It just sucks that we can't screw up a little bit without a huge price to pay! I also did a round of antibiotics and feel it set me back and I haven't really recovered from it and that was in July. You're not alone

I know what you mean about the antibiotics. I am so sensitive to them, when I take them it's like eating a ton of starch. They say taking charcoal tablets may help when taking antibiotics. I haven't tried it yet, but I thought you might want to know in case there is ever a next time. Sorry your having a setback , you are an inspiration. I try to stick with the nsd, but after a few days I get grumpy and always fudge a little. I would like to have the self discipline like you and stick with it, as it does give me great relief- more than any medicine I have tried.
Hope you get better soon,
Sheri
Diet change has improved my RA. I feel best eating raw veggies and some fruits and avoiding grains, sugars, nightshades, beans and dairy. Sed rate dropped from 65 to 19, but it took over a year. www.fatsickandnearlydead.com excess fat/oils = pain for me recipes for raw food on Youtube "raw food romance" and "healing josephine" Josephine is in remission from RA after two years by change diet/exercise
