Please forgive me if I misunderstand your post. However, it sounds like you consume dairy to get the vitamin D. It also sounds like the dairy might increase your levels of pain and cause you to flare. I know dairy "does a number" on me, therefore I avoid it like the plague (except for limited amounts of yogurt with beneficial bacteria). Could you not satisfy your need for vitamin D by supplementing with Cod Liver Oil? Even for non-ASers, I think it wise to avoid almost all conventional dairy given all the chemicals that go into the cows and eventually find their way into your body.
