as for the vitamins and minerals, until very recently, except for maybe the calcium, i thought "i eat a healthy diet, i don't need supplements." but i started magnesium in january to see if it would help my GI issues and it has. and something else that totally surprised me: no more AM calf or "anytime i'm immobile" foot cramps. its been long enough now, i really do think its the magnesium. i also take D and will be starting CoQ on the advice of my rheumy. maybe vit C too, again rheumy's suggestion. all things he thinks will help with muscle or inflammation issues. this supplementation thing is all new to me; i'm still a bit skeptical, but open to the idea, especially after seeing the results of the magnesium.
